Games are analyzed

Every morning, overnight NBA play-by-play data is processed through a custom scoring engine that weighs 20+ factors like lead changes, clutch plays, and game flow.

You get a score

Each game receives an excitement score from 1–10. A 9 is a thriller. A 2 is a snoozer. No ambiguity — just a number that tells you what you need to know.

Labels explain why

Smart labels tell you exactly what made a game exciting (or boring). "Photo Finish" and "Chaos Ball" hit different — and now you know before you press play.

Every game is analyzed using 20+ factors including final margin, lead changes, clutch plays, overtime, game flow, pace, and scoring patterns. Each factor is weighted based on its impact on game excitement, then combined into a 0–10 score. Higher scores mean more exciting games.
Data is updated every morning around 6 AM CET with analysis of yesterday's games. Scheduled games for today are also shown so you can plan ahead.
Yes! Swipe left or use the navigation arrows to browse historical games from past days. Great for catching up on games you missed throughout the week.
Absolutely. Tap the settings icon (three lines) in the top right corner to toggle label categories on or off. Customize exactly what information you see for each game.
No. HeatCheckr is an independent app created by a fan. We use publicly available data from NBA.com and link to official NBA highlight videos. Not endorsed by or affiliated with the NBA in any way.
Built as a passion project to solve a real problem — especially for European NBA fans who can't watch games live. There's an optional "Buy me a Coffee" support option to help cover server costs, but the core app is and will remain free. No signup, no subscriptions.

What Data We Collect

HeatCheckr is designed to be privacy-friendly:

  • No personal information: We don't ask for your name, email, or any identifying information.
  • No account required: Use HeatCheckr without creating an account.
  • No analytics tracking: No third-party analytics services track your behavior.
  • No advertising: We don't display ads or share data with advertisers.

Local Storage

The following is stored locally on your device only:

  • Cached game data for performance and offline viewing.
  • Your preferences (toggled label categories, etc.).
  • Warning acknowledgments (e.g., highlight spoiler warning).

This data never leaves your device.

Network Requests

  • Our API server: Fetches game data and excitement scores. No personal information included.
  • NBA.com: When you tap highlights, you're taken to the official NBA site. We don't control their privacy practices.

Third-Party Services

  • NBA API: Publicly available game stats. No user data shared.
  • Railway: Hosts our backend. Server logs may contain standard HTTP info (IP, timestamps) but we don't actively collect or analyze this.

Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app is suitable for all ages — it simply displays sports statistics.

The HeatCheckr app, design, code, and original content (excluding NBA data) is owned by JDK Development.
